New macOS Catalina : new features

Share:
Hi! This is Easy&Light. :)

Today, I will review the new macOS 'Catalina' !

Catalina will be released in the fall of 2019, and a developer beta is now available.

I installed and tried the Catalina beta version of macOS 10.15.

Added a new Wallpaper and screen mode

First, new Catalina Wallpaper has been added.

You can set it up through System Preferences - Desktop - Screen Saver.

You can also see that the screen mode has been increased to three modes:

Light / Dark / Auto

Others are the same as before.

iTunes disappears and Apple Music / TV app / Podcast app added

In Catalina, itunes disappears and it's divided into three apps:

Apple Music / TV app / Podcast.

Apple Music and Podcast are both simple and intuitive in UI.

Also, the search function has been improved.

For example, If you search for a host's name, all podcast that appear as guests are also searched.

I think it would be useful for those who enjoy podcast :)

Manage connected devices through the Finder

The most noticeable change is the Finder.

When you look at the Finder screen, You can see the device currently connected on the left menu.

You can back up and manage your iPhone, iPad in the Finder.

Personally, I don't have to run other specific app to manage my device.

It is convenient !

A small changes in the Notes app

There are also small changes in the Notes app!

One more view type has been added.

It is a gallery view!

As the number of notes increases, I think the gallery view is more comfortable to view.

it would be good to set it to the form that the individual wants.

If you click on the attachment icon on the top menu, you can see all files such as photos, videos, scanned files, maps, websites, audio, documents at once.

Changes in Reminders app

The reminders app UI has been changed!

Categories can be used separately.

It would be helpful for managing schedules if you set the color for each category.

Sidecar Features

This is the hottest feature in Catalina.

You can see the new feature "Sidecar" when you enter System Preferences.

Select the options on the right and select the connected device.

Now you can connect your iPad to Mac and you can use your iPad as a dual monitor.

iPad has been connected to Mac as a dual monitor.

If you have an iPad, you can configure your dual monitor so easily.

The touch bar also appears on the iPad screen.

Of course, you can change a touch bar option.

After using the new macOS Catalina, I thought usability has been improved generally.

I look forward to releasing the official version.

Thanks :)
